Please note: Colonic Hydrotherapy is not in any way intended as a ‘cure’ or ‘medical’ treatment. It should not be seen as an alternative to seeing your GP if you have any health concerns. Neither is intended to infer or imply symptoms of IBS or other bowel conditions will be solved.
Colonic Hydrotherapy also known as "Colonic Irrigation", "colon lavage", "high colonic’’ or just simply a ‘’colonic’’ is a safe effective method of removing waste from the colon. This is done by gently stimulating the peristalsis contractions in your bowel by using warm filtered water.
Clients come for a variety of reasons, and it is not limited to just a few. However, all clients have been extremely satisfied with their results whatever their initial reason for coming for the treatment.
Before the treatment commences there will be a verbal consultation between myself and the client. This is where we will establish what the needs of the client are. Once the consultation has finished the client will be invited to get changed and lay on the bed ready for the treatment. The clinic has a separate bathroom which ensures that the client has privacy when getting changed and using the facilities. During the treatment warm filtered water will be introduced very gently into the colon via a disposable speculum. There is no mess or odour as the tube is enclosed and the machine which is used is a closed system. The treatment is not painful or unpleasant, and your modesty will be maintained at all times.
We will go through the consultation form which is already completed by the client before coming to the clinic. We will discuss what issues the client has been facing and ask what they think they want from the treatment.
Before you come to the clinic for your appointment make sure that you are as hydrated as possible, and you do not eat for at least 2 hours before. Avoid fizzy drinks, energy drinks and limit caffeine intake for up to a week before if possible. Avoid foods that can cause gas on the day.
Colon health is directly linked to the quality of the food and drink we consume. The typical British diet, often consisting of refined and processed foods which are high in saturated fats, sugar, and preservatives and low in fibre, inevitably causes issues for the colon. Over time, this type of diet can hinder the colon’s ability to process essential nutrients, absorb water and effectively eliminate waste from the body. An improperly functioning, unclean colon can become a breeding ground for disease and illness. In the UK colon health has been extremely neglected and overlooked. A nice strong, clean, well-functioning colon is essential for maintaining good health.
Most people that will come for a colonic will complain of constipation. Constipation is very common and is where the faecal matter is so compacted and tightly packed that bowel movements are infrequent, and it is hard to pass stools.
Washing out putrefied material and waste from the colon can increase the good bacteria. This is because good bacteria can only breed in a clean environment. Nutrients can be absorbed better in a clean environment too. So, removing the harmful bacteria and waste gives the good bacteria the opportunity to breed. As a colonic hydrotherapist I would always advise clients to take a good probiotic supplement each day.
